Now that Hey You Say Cheese travelling camera project is nearing its end Its time to look ahead to my new project aptly titled The Mision Mexico Photo Project. The lovely people at Mision Mexico have kindly accepted my proposal to teach analogue photography to the kids who reside in their orphanage... I'm so honored and excited about this project Its going to be a long time in the making but it will all be worth it in the end.
Over the next few months I'll be researching info for the text book/curriculum i plan on compiling for the kids so I'd love to do a big call out to the Take nothing but Polaroid community Ive got going here and ask if you come across any kid related photography things, whether it be a story on teaching methods or a camera for children, please copy and paste the links below... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Step two is chase corporate sponsorship which I am currently doing. Stay tuned for more details.
The photo above was taken by these guys who bought Mision Mexico to the world. I highly recommend you check out their movie Somewhere Near Tapachula its a unique look at surf culture with in the mision mixed in with a whole lot of love not to mention some damn fine waves off the coast of Mexico!

Awesome! Will you be teaching them how to develop film?
ReplyDeleteI would totally recommend taking some extra Pola film so you can give each kid their own portrait. It's such a little thing for us to have photos of ourselves that we forget what it's like to not have photos of yourself, your family, your friends.
Good luck!
